Ossu! Shugeibu: BEFORE & AFTER at the Gallery Hanahou, New York

The exhibit “Before and After” (Oct 14-Nov 13) at the Gallery Hanahou, 611 Broadway, Suite 730, New York, consists of unique works largely made from recycled materials by the Ossu! Shugeibu guerrilla crafts club, founded in Japan by Shoichi Ishizawa. The original intention of the club was to put a masculine spin on what’s normally considered a feminine craft, says Ishizawa, and to put an element of play in it. Featured in the show are glove puppets and other strange crafted creatures. On Saturday Oct 17 a 3-hour workshop on making a robot dog (shown in this clip) was held at 611; for other workshops and more info contact info@galleryhanahou.com.
