Where can I find a starter robot building kit or instructions to build one?

Want to get son interested in building robotics. Is there fun, easy kits available or instructions you can buy?

You might try VEX sets. DH picked up a few on clearance at Radio Shack and likes them. http://www.vexlabs.com/
