Robot BEAM
Hi, my name is Brian Fields. I have been working with BEAM technology since 2001. My original robot creations range from simple spinners to complex walkers. The following robot, inspired by Mark Tilden’s Vbug, is custom designed by me. It utilitized five servos.

Hmmm, very nice, your bot looks just like Harold Ilano’s Hermit, even the tactiles look like his design. Have you been on his site? He an i are good friends and i am working on a 5 motor right now.

My son and I built a BEAM bot from a kit we got at Solar Robotics (google it). Great intro to robot building and relatively cheap. We’ve got a bunch of scrap electronics collected now and our next one is going to be from scratch. There are a few books available on their site too that were really useful.

Very true, as this was made from the ground up from scratch, it did take me a while to make though as this was the third robot design. I don’t have the schematic for this robot anymore but it’s the same as Mark Tildens(founder of BEAM) Vbug

The great thing …
The great thing about B.E.A.M robotics is not only are the very inexpensive to make and requite very little processing power, they can be essencially made from scrap components, but they are also extremely rugged and hard to break once they are made.
