The is the spinning chassis of an antweight (1lb or less) battlebot that I designed using Solidworks. The outer spinning portion and the top and bottom of the chassis were water-jetted from 6061-T6 aluminum pieces. I used a lathe to turn down a 1/4″ steel shaft to the correct length and add grooves for snap rings (to hold the bearings in place). The aluminum “pillow block” that holds the bearings in the center was also turned down using a lathe. I’m using 2 sealed-cartridge, ABEC-5 bearings to create smooth motion.
