TurtleBot robot vision with online learning – simple search

This summer SURF students Adam Willats and Yu Chen Lim worked to integrate e-lab’s object recognition system with a mobile robotic platform. The robot is equipped with a kinect camera and two USB webcams and was programmed to search complicated rooms to find objects. Because this system uses the online learner it can find any object shown to it. The robot uses an node-based search algorithm to mimic the way humans identify crossroads and remember visited locations.
