My class is trying to build a battle bot out of household items. Everything either has to be in a kit or found around the house like a vacuum motor or something. If you know any kits for it please tell me. Only the servos and programmable parts can be bought already made. Only 32 pounds also.
First, lets talk terminology. Calling a remote controlled destructive machine a ‘bot (as in robot) is really a misnomer. A robot is controlled by a program, not by a human with a remote control device. These should be called "RC battle vehicles", not "bots".
That said, use a wheelchair motor or a vehicle windshield wiper motor or the motor from a cordless drill. Which you choose depends on the rules of the contest, as all of these vehicles are rules driven. There is usually a maximum weight and many other regulations based on safety.
32 pounds means a vehicle battery is out of the question, so you are probably better off using drill motors or other hobby motors. You could use a chainsaw or other model airplane motor if you can make it gas powered.
