Back when battleBots was popular, I created a design and was negotiating sponsorship to get it finished when people lost interest in the show.

…an inch or two from the tip that, when imbedded in the enemies armor, would prevent the enemy from escaping and allow your bot to drag it around anywhere you please.

You could build an …
You could build an archery-bot and by-pass the “no unteathered projectiles” rule by using a modified CO2-powered impail-bot.
Instead of the sharpened metal spike shooting forward several inches before stopping and retracting, it would shoot up to several yards out of the bot connected by a metal chain that would then retract and lock into place for the next shot.
If you want to get really advanced, the spike would have 3-4 perpendicular spring-loaded metal plates protruding… see next post.

Alot of bots …
Alot of bots now-days have indepentant drive systems, backup recievers, and multiple weapons.
Simply taking out one of the above mentioned parts will not ‘kill’ the enemy bot.

but a battlebot …
but a battlebot will be “killed” as soon as it’s penetrated, since theres not a lot of parts under there that are that unimportant that the bot can win w/o em =P

I am slighly sprised that you don’t have any protection against getting flipped like most bots.
Either a self-righting mechanism or just an object that will keep it from staying on it’s top.

yes… years ago …
yes… years ago my team and I did get some of it actaully built too… but I needed funding to make the blades. We wanted to mill it out of one piece of metal so it wouldn’t break easy
