How can I find programmable robot parts?

I’m an aspiring mechanical engineer and have had an idea for a nifty gadget floating around in my head for a while. To build the gadget, I need jointed extendable arms whose movement is programmable. However, I don’t know the first thing about robotics and I’m having trouble finding a cheap beginner’s kit that has such components. Where could I get what I need and what kind of pricing should I expect?

A company called Lynxmotion has alot of smaller arms and robots.

They come as kits and are easier to program than making your own arm.

That’s there website with the products.

Good luck.

Your best bet would be to go to Nottingham (If you live in the UK) and find an electronics shop.

If not then look online. Google is your friend.
