what’s the main problem with mobile robots?

One of the most common problems with autonomous robots is gathering sensor data on the environment and accurately creating a map of it while dealing with the small errors that accumulate in it’s relative position while moving around. Absolute-positioning sensors can certainly make this a lot easier, but then your robot is limited to the area where the sensors are deployed.
