ABB are always happy to practice what they preach. In this movie a IRB 1600 industrial robot assembles light switches in the ABB Elektro-Praga facility in Jablonec in the Czech Republic. The robot extracts 4 molded light switch covers from an injection molding machine. The covers are then placed on a cooling station. During the molding cycle (29 secs) the robot undertakes a secondary task – to assemble the cool light switch covers to their base. Those bases are fed through a bowlfeeder on an indexing conveyor which stops in front of the robot to enable the assembly. Once assembled, the light switches move to a flow wrapper and end up packed in a container ready for shipment.
