naro-tartaruga is the newest bio-inspired robot in the naro-project at the Autonomous Systems Lab, ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). This video shows the concept and demonstrates the fin movements. It features a fully three dimensional fin actuation unit and a robust hull capable of diving up to 100m deep.
The robot is designed to be a platform for underwater robotics research. It carries many batteries and computational power. Locomotion studies as well as robotic autonomy are only two out of many possible research fields with this robot.
