My son has a project due soon where he has to build a robot that will pick up things & move them around. We have done research but still do not have a clue where to begin. Where do you buy the parts or robot kits? How do you build one that will move things?

I would highly recommend the "Lego Mindstorm" sets, especially if your son has any interest in robotics in general. It's a tad expensive, but it is a great system; it comes with a "brain" which acts as the cpu of the system and can be programed to activate various motors in different ways in response to light and touch sensors. I believe there are also some insightful photographs of how to use the set to build a robotic arm that might serve your purpose 😀
